THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE BETTY SWARTOUT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Betty Swartout Memorial Scholarship to Gabriella Burzynski. The $1,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Burzynski photoBurzynski, of Monroe, is a 2022 graduate of Monroe High School. While at MCCC, she plans to earn an associate of science degree and continue her studies to eventually become a kindergarten teacher.  While in high school, Gabriella was active in the Interact Club and Friend of Companion Animals. She is the daughter of Janelle Abood and Michael Burzynski.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, is entering their second-year as a student in the pre-education transfer program or planning to pursue a degree in the field of elementary education. Majors of study include degrees in early childhood development or teacher paraprofessional with a commitment to complete studies in a baccalaureate elementary education program. Applicants must have at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average, be a Monroe County resident and preference will be given to students who attended Monroe Public Schools, Monroe, Mich.
