The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Hector and Pauline (Elsie) LeBrun Family Scholarship to Gamela Ali. The $1,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Ali, of Dearborn, is a 2008 graduate of Edsel Ford High School, Dearborn, MI. She is studying respiratory therapy while attending MCCC and has helped with the Basic Life Skills class teaching the proper way to perform CPR. She has volunteered at Oakwood Hospital and the mosque. Gamela is the daughter of Mohamed and Tayebah Ali.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be have at least a 2.5 grade point average and demonstrate financial need.
