THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE UPWARD BOUND SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Upward Bound Scholarship to Brianna McKeone, Kasey Shook and Sierra Sorter. The $500 scholarships are to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Mckeone photoMcKeone, of Newport, is a 2023 Jefferson High School graduate.  She is focusing on her general education classes while attending MCCC and deciding on a major area of study, which may include earning a bachelor’s degree in astronomy in the future. Brianna participated in Upward Bound during high school and was involved in Art Club, the JHS yearbook and National Honor Society.

 

shook photoShook, of Carleton, is a 2023 Airport High School graduate. She is undecided about her area of study and is taking general education classes at MCCC. While attending AHS, Kasey was a member of the varsity bowling team for four years and participated in the Upward Bound program. She is the daughter of Angi Shook and Bruce Shook.

 

 

sorter photoSorter, of Monroe, is a 2023 graduate of Monroe High School. She plans to earn her phlebotomy certificate from MCCC and pursue a career in healthcare. While attending MHS, Sierra played tennis and was a member of the school’s choir, including serving on the Choir Council, in addition to her participation in the Upward Bound program.   

 

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a first-generation college student or meet income eligibility guidelines.
