MCCC and SEMCA hosting Open House July 24 to learn more about training as an electrician and careers

Monroe County Community College, in partnership with the Southeast Michigan Construction Academy, will host an open house for prospective electrical students on Thursday, July 24 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm in Founders Hall in the Innovation Lab, Room F-185 on the college's Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI.

During the open house, participants will learn about the program, meet instructors, learn how to become an electrical apprentice, and be able to ask questions to assist them in choosing an exciting and rewarding career as a journeyman electrician. To RSVP for the open house or to get additional information call (734) 384-4229 or (734) 384-4124. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

SEMCA's electrical trades training program provides rigorous hands-on training that allows students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply the skills in on-the-job settings. The program follows the industry-recognized curriculum of the National Center for Construction Education & Research and was developed with the support of more than 125 construction CEOs and various associations and academic leaders who united to revolutionize training for the construction industry. NCCER develops standardized construction and maintenance curricula and assessments with portable credentials. These credentials are tracked through NCCER’s National Registry, which allows organizations and companies to track the qualifications of their craft professionals and/or check the qualifications of possible new hires. The National Registry also assists craft professionals by maintaining their records in a secure database.

The Southeast Michigan Construction Academy meets and exceeds all the required standards of the nationally standardized program. As a result, each student has a credential listed in a national registry that can be easily transferred among accredited sponsors and throughout the industry. In other words, a student can take their transcripts to any other participating NCCER sponsor and continue training.
