MCCC PRESENTS AWARDS TO STUDENTS, CLUBS, PROGRAMS AND FACULTY DURING RECENT HONORS NIGHT CELEBRATION

 

Monroe County Community College has honored the following students, organizations, faculty and adjunct faculty for their achievements during the 2024-25 academic year.

The Faculty Association Outstanding Student Award recipient was Elizabeth Anson, who also received the Outstanding Social Sciences Award, Outstanding Student Symposium Presentation Award, and was selected as one of two student speakers at the 2025 Commencement Ceremony. Anson also was a recipient of the President’s Academic Achievement Award along with Payton Binder, Gabriella Busenbark, Olivia Doom (who also received the Outstanding Nursing Student Award for the May 2025 Graduating Class), Andrew LaBeau, Joshua Marimpietri, Ethan Parker and Emily Shakelton.

Student awards in the Applied Science and Engineering Technology Division included Outstanding ASET Student Award and Outstanding Manufacturing Technology Student Award to Marten Kooi; Outstanding Electrical Engineering Technology Student Award to Cameron Cicotte; and Outstanding Metrology Student Award to Keegan Swift.

Student awards in the Business Division included Outstanding Business Management Student Awards to Paige Abbott; Outstanding CIS Student Award to Kaylee Busenbark; Outstanding Accounting Student Award to Hongyan Pendleton; Outstanding Agriculture Student Award to Benjamin Bruck and Outstanding Paralegal Student Award was presented for the first time to Katie Stanley.

Health Science Division student award recipients included Outstanding Nursing Student Awards to Garret Smith (December 2024 Graduating Class) and Olivia Doom (May 2025 Graduation Class), mentioned above; Peer Spirit of Nursing Awards to Laura Rickheim (December 2024 Graduating Class) and Sarah George (May 2025 Graduating Class); Excellence in Practical Nursing Award to Cynthia McDevitt (December 2024 Graduating Class); Practical Nursing Student Peer Recognition Award to Quiana Harmon (December 2024 Graduating Class); and Bailey Murdock and Hannah Sparks received the Outstanding Respiratory Therapy Student Award (May 2025 Graduating Class.)

Student awards presented in the Humanities/Social Sciences Division included Outstanding Humanities Student Award to Anna Muth; Excellence in Journalism to Reese Bowling, Sidney Robison and Mick Valentino; and Margaret Sandefur received the Outstanding Journalism Student Award.

The Science/Mathematics Division student awards included Outstanding Freshman Chemistry Award and Outstanding Mathematics Student Award to Ethan Parker and Outstanding Early Childhood Education Student Awards to  Brooke Benetiz (December 2024 Graduating Class and Samantha Hensley (May 2025 Graduating Class). 

Outstanding Student Symposium Presentation Awards for research and presentation of projects went to Noah Kresmer and Anson (as mentioned above). The George Rhodes Writing Fellow Awards was presented to Mia Sotelo; and The Dr. Ronald Campbell Student Government Award to Kira Johnson.

Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award recipient Sheryll Blaschak and Outstanding Faculty Award recipient Selina Griswold, were selected based on a process by which students and staff nominate whom they consider to be outstanding faculty. The award recipients are selected by a committee comprised of faculty, support staff, administrators, and students. 

The Writing Fellows Poetry Night event received the Outstanding Student Program of the Year Award. The Outstanding Diversity Program of the Year Award recognized Reese Johnson’s PRISM Presentation. The Excellence and Innovation Award was presented to the staff of the Student Success Team.
