MCCC Student Art Club 2025 Show Reception June 6; On display through July 7

The Monroe County Community College Student Art Club is hosting their annual Art Show throughout the month of June until July 7, 2025 at IHM Motherhouse Gallery, 610 W. Elm Ave.¸in Monroe, MI.

The show’s opening will be celebrated with a public reception on Friday, June 6 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy specially selected works by seven students ((Front to back, left side Benjamin Fry, Cortney DeCarlo, Jessica Janus, Anjelie Beatrice Smith and Malaia Merrillat. Front to back, right side: Melissa Smith, Phoenix Baker  JoAnn ‘JoJo’ Mills and Cooper, the Art Club's mascot) from MCCC’s renowned associate of fine arts program. Bios of each artist are also part of the display, sharing with visitors the diversity and unique backgrounds representing students who attend MCCC.

Following the reception, the show will remain open Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. through July 7. Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite artwork (through June 30) and a best of show prize will be presented at the conclusion of the show.

The pieces in the show represent all manner of media, including pencil, watercolor, acrylic, pottery and sculpture, with each artist presenting multiple items in several formats and media, including series and ‘reimagined’ versions of classical artists work. Many of the pieces are also offered for sale, ranging from $80 - $500.

Therese O’Halleran, art faculty at MCCC, serves as the Student Art Club’s advisor and Marion Martyres, IHM Attendant, worked with the students to coordinate the show and can be contacted at mmartyres@ihmsisters.org for more information about the show and purchase of artwork on display.
