The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarships to Emilyn Rice, Trace Secor, Brianne and Shadewald. Each $1,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Rice, of Monroe, is a 2008 graduate of Dundee High School. She is studying in the pre-social work program at MCCC where she is a tutor for psychology, a note taker for English courses, works in the Student Success Center, is in the Honors Program and presented at the Jim DeVries Student Honors Symposium. She is the daughter of Tamara Rice and Ralph Rice and mother to Rex Rice.
Secor, of Petersburg, is a 2025 graduate of Summerfield High School. He is studying business management at MCCC, pursuing an associate of science degree in business and transferring to University of Toledo to study marketing. While attending SHS he played football, basketball and ran track. He was a member of the National Honor Society, student council, Student Prevention Leadership Team, coached younger students in basketball and was involved in dozens of community and church volunteer service projects. He is the son of Tracy and Keri Secor.
Shadewald, of Adrian, is a 1997 graduate of Sand Creek High School. After transferring from another college, she is studying in MCCC’s Registered Nursing program. She has worked as a dialysis technician for over a decade and plans to use that experience and knowledge to further her studies at MCCC and beyond. Her parents are Larry and Bonnie Shadewald.
To be eligible for this scholarship the student must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
