The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the FEDCO Science and Technology Scholarship to Joni Mitchell and Karen Teodosio. Each $1,700 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Mitchell, of Petersburg, is a 2025 graduate of Dundee High School. She is studying mechanical engineering technology at MCCC. Joni’s plans to pursue a career in prosthetics and orthotics. While at DHS she played basketball and soccer and was a member of National Honor Society, participating in a variety of community service projects including Sleep in Heavenly Peace making beds for children and volunteering at food kitchens, reading to younger students and cleanup projects. She also has been actively involved in Clover Clan 4-H Club. Joni is the daughter of Nicole and Sanford Mitchell.
Teodosio, of Newport, is a 2025 graduate of Melvindale High School. She is studying mechanical engineering technology at MCCC. She came to the United States from Mexico to study during high school, where she was a tutor for students. Karen is the daughter of Rosario Mendez and Lorenzo Teodosio.
To be eligible for this scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Mechanical Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Technology at MCCC, must have a 2.5 grade point average or higher and be a Monroe County, Michigan resident. Preference will be given to a Jefferson High School graduate that demonstrates financial need.
