THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS MICHAEL E. NEWMAN ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Michael E. Newman Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Rachel Smith. The $950 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Smith, of Newport, graduated with honors from Smith Academy in 2023. She is studying graphic design at MCCC.  Rachel was a student ambassador and has attended the MCCC Christ-centered Community (MC6 bible study group).  She has volunteered at a Christian camp in Oscoda, MI.  Rachel is the daughter of Karl and Mary.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a member of the Monroe County Community Credit Union, have and maintain a 2.8 grade point average or higher during the scholarship year, and maintain at least part-time enrollment, defined as six contact hours or more per semester.  Financial need is also considered.
