The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Circolo Italiano Scholarship to Claudia Biundo and Alyssa Zanger. Each $475 scholarship is to be used for books.
Biundo, of Monroe, is a 2023 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC with plans to earn her bachelor of science in nursing degree. Claudia is the daughter of Maria Biundo and Francesco Biundo.
Zanger, of Monroe, is a 2022 graduate of Dundee High School. She will be studying in the Health Sciences Division at MCCC, with an interest in either radiography or respiratory therapy. She started a new job as a nurse’s aide at University of Michigan. While attending DHS she played softball, basketball and volleyball, and volunteered as a coach and referee for younger athletes and assisted in elementary school classrooms helping children develop their reading skills. Alyssa’s parents are Tim and Amy Zanger.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must present financial need, reside in Monroe County and have a working knowledge of the Italian language or culture. Preference will be given to a student planning to pursue studies, training, or research relating to the Italian culture.
