The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the David L. and Harriet Williams McIntyre Memorial Scholarship to Daniel Presa and Christina Rice. Each $1,675 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Presa, of Monroe, is a 2023 graduate of Monroe High School. While attending MCCC he is studying construction management technology and was recognized for his academic achievements in the 2024-25 academic year. While a student at MHS he played soccer and was active in community service activities with his church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Daniel is the son of Daniel Presa Sanchez and Alicia Jimenez Gallegos.
Rice, of Monroe, is a 2023 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying science while attending MCCC, with plans to pursue further education and a career in biochemistry such as forensic toxicology. She has been named to MCCC’s Dean’s List. While a student at MHS she was a member of the Interact Club and involved in a wide variety of community service projects including fundraisers, street cleanups, and activities and events for children in the community. Christina is the daughter of Rebecca Rice and Tommy Rice.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Monroe High School graduate, enrolled in a transfer curriculum and maintain a full-time enrollment status of at least 12 credit hours. To continue to receive this scholarship, the recipient must demonstrate continuing academic achievement of at least a 2.5 grade point average.
