THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE EUGENE AND HELEN BEACH NURSING/RT SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Eugene and Helen Beach Nursing/Respiratory Therapy scholarship to Shayla Braden, Emily Smith and Diamond Turner. Each $2,200 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

      Braden, of Temperance, is a 2018 graduate of Ida High School and the Monroe County Middle College. She is pursuing a degree in nursing at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurse Association. She is the daughter of Stephanie Braden and Jason Braden.

      Smith, of Petersburg, is a 2020 graduate of Blissfield High School. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is actively involved in the Student Nurse Association and volunteers with the Traverse City Cherry Festival.  Emily is the daughter of Joel and Lynette Smith.

      Turner, of Temperance, is a 2014 Elisabeth Ann Johnson Memorial High School, Mt. Morris, MI graduate.  She is in the LPN to RN Bridge Program at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurse Association and has received the Community Service Excellence award recognizing her commitment to enhancing civic engagement within her community.  Diamond is the daughter of Alisa Jones and Rico Neal.

      To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a Monroe County resident, a second-year student enrolled in the registered nursing or respiratory therapy program, demonstrates above average clinical and performance, and a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
