THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE GWENDOLYN M. JACOB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Gwendolyn M. Jacob Memorial Scholarship to Celena Tamayo and Tyler Vance. Each $1,425 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.

Tamayo, of Monroe, is a 2024 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing an associate of science degree in psychology while attending MCCC.  Celena works as a youth sports coach and membership desk staff member at the Monroe Family YMCA and serves as a head/assistant cheer coach with Monroe Champion Force Athletics.  She is the daughter of Amber Bolicki and Oscar Tamayo, Jr.

Vance, of Monroe, is a 2025 graduate of Monroe High School.  He is studying criminal justice while attending MCCC with plans to continue his education earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and social work.  He has participated in the community with Party in the Park.  Tyler is the son of Jennifer Vance and Ryan Mahony.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have graduated from Monroe High School, be enrolled in a transfer curriculum at MCCC, have a grade point average of 2.5 or above and maintain a full-time enrollment status of 12 credit hours.
