THE FOUNDATION AT MCCC AWARDS THE PHILIP J. IOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip J. Iott Memorial Scholarship to Cassandra Hayton. The $2,200 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Hayton, of Monroe, received her GED from Airport High School in 2006. She is pursuing an associate of science degree in social work from MCCC. She is the mother to BriLynn Young and is the daughter of Tina Brothers.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who, at the time of graduation, was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
