The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray and Betty Kessler Scholarship to Connor Gossett and Ashlee Metdepenningen. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. Each $1,250 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
Gossett, of Monroe, is a 2025 graduate of Jefferson High School. He is taking general studies course while attending MCCC. While attending JHS, he was a section leader if the marching band, was a member of the Video Game Club and on the yearbook committee. Connor is the son of Chris and Kimberly Gossett.
Metdepenningen, of Newport, is a 2021 graduate of Jefferson High School. She is studying nursing while at MCCC and plans to continue her education goals earning a Bachelor’s in Science Nursing degree. She is the daughter of Rebekah and Michael Metdepenningen.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior years and graduated from Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
