MONROE, Mich. – WalletHub, an award-winning personal finance company that empowers consumers to lead financially healthy lives, has ranked Monroe County Community College in the top 9 percent of community colleges in the United States for 2025.
The college ranked No. 56 out of 663 community colleges nationwide and No. 4 out of the 23 Michigan community colleges that were ranked.
The complete results and methodology for the study, titled “Best & Worst Community Colleges (2025),” can be found at https://wallethub.com/edu/best-worst-community-colleges/15076/.
To rank the best community colleges in the U.S. and in each state, WalletHub selected a sample of 653 schools from the list of member institutions in the American Association of Community Colleges. WalletHub then determined where students can receive the best education at the lowest price. It did this by comparing community colleges nationwide across 18 key indicators of cost and quality across three key dimensions, including: 1) Cost and Financing, 2) Education Outcomes and 3) Career Outcomes.
WalletHub's 18 key indicators of cost and quality ranged from the cost of in-state tuition and fees to student-faculty ratio to retention and graduation rates.
Data used to create this ranking were collected as of July 15, 2025 from the National Center for Education Statistics, Campaign for Free College Tuition, U.S. Department of Education and Council for Community and Economic Research.
WalletHub notes that due to data limitations, it was not able to include all AACC member schools and that the AACC is not affiliated whatsoever with WalletHub and was used strictly as an informational resource.
