Collage brings together a diverse variety of musical fabrics and texture, Felder said. It is a unique presentation of the arts that is a study in antithesis, calling for rapid juxtaposition of musical styles and forms without the interruption of applause. The Collage Concert concept was pioneered by the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. and the University of Michigan.

The first performance of the MCCC Collage Concert was in 2008, when Felder brought the concept to Monroe. The last installment of the MCCC Collage Concert was held in 2015.
