COURT DISMISSES FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST MCCC

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County's 38th Circuit Court has dismissed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed against MCCC by Heather Malone in August 2025.

Malone claimed that the college "failed to produce all responsive records" in an employee's personnel file, "improperly withheld documents," arbitrarily redacted non-exempt material and did not properly describe the reason for redactions.

The college maintained that it provided all records specific to the request, as well as additional documents that were not specifically required under the request, and fully satisfied the FOIA requirement to generally describe the material exempted. The case is now closed.
