MAJOR CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT: SISTER HAZEL TO PLAY MCCC'S LA-Z-BOY CENTER, MEYER THEATER

Sister Hazel, a band that has garnered 7 Billboard hit singles and 11 Billboard charting albums while selling more than 3 million records, will take the stage at Monroe County Community College's La-Z-Boy, Meyer Theater on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The La-Z-Boy Center, Meyer Theater is located on MCCC's Main Campus at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd., Monroe, Mich.

Tickets are available online at www.monroeccc.edu/events/sister-hazel or by calling (734) 242-7300. Reserved tickets are $45 or $55. VIP tickets are $60.

Originating from Gainesville, Fla., Sister Hazel is comprised of five gifted, seasoned musicians whose well-spring of natural talent has led to the band being called "one of the Top 100 Most Influential Independent Performers of the last 15 years" by Performing Songwriter Magazine.

The band's "All for You" single topped the adult alternative charts during the summer of 1997 and the success propelled the accompanying album to platinum status. Sister Hazel's first showing on the country music charts made a strong debut with “Lighter in the Dark” at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, No. 6 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart and No. 30 on Billboard's Top Current Albums chart.

The band landed on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart again in 2018 and 2019 with Volumes I, II, III and IV of a clever EP compilation series titled “Elements.” “Water” landed on the Billboard Country Albums chart at No. 9 and No. 2 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. “Wind” landed at No. 1 on Tunescountry and No. 11 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. “Fire” landed at No 5 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. The collectible compilation series ended with “Earth” charting at Number 15 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Album chart.

Living up to their fan-centered reputation, the band hosts annual fan events like “Hazelnut Hang" and was a pioneer in themed cruise experiences by co-founding “The Rock Boat,” a cruise featuring nonstop opportunities for fan/artist interaction. Sister Hazel has been equally attentive to connecting with their audience through social media.

They have since made their Grand Ole Opry debut and shared the stage with country music superstars at the CMA Festival and Tortuga Music Festival, among others. In addition, the band also gives back with “Lyrics For Life," their charity that unites musicians and celebrities for concerts and auctions to benefit cancer research and patient care.

The event is sponsored by DTE Energy.

The full 2026-27 MCCC La-Z-Boy Center events lineup is made possible in part by the La-Z-Boy Foundation, Consumers Energy, DTE Energy and The Foundation at MCCC. Throughout the year, more events may be added to the schedule. Visit www.monroeccc.edu/seasonevents to stay current with all the activities hosted by MCCC for the community.
