MCCC ART CLUB TO HOST ANNUAL ART SHOW AT IHM SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY

The Monroe County Community College Student Art Club will host its annual Art Show May 22 through July 15 at St. Therese at IHM Senior Living.

St. Therese at IHM Senior Living is located at 610 W. Elm Ave. in Monroe on the IHM (Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) campus.

To celebrate the gallery, MCCC and the IHM Sisters will host a public reception with light refreshments from 5:30-7 p.m. on May 22.

Following the reception, the artwork will remain on display until July 15. The gallery hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for leisure viewing. During this open window, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase select art pieces on display.

The lineup is a diverse array of fine art, with mediums ranging far and wide. Media include pencil, watercolor, acrylic, pottery and sculpture.

“Visitors will have the chance to view and purchase exceptional, one-of-a-kind art from local talents," said Benjamin Fry, co-president of the MCCC Art Club, adding that his colleagues are looking forward to sharing the stories behind each piece.

"Being connected is everything – and this gallery allows the Art Club to get [together] with the community, embracing visual outlets of the abstract together,” he shared.

Therese O’Halloran, assistant professor of art at MCCC is advising Fry and the Student Art Club on the exhibit.
