MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College is hosting a full slate of FUNdamentals Summer Camps this summer.
Students will have the option to choose from 20 different interest areas, all of which will be hosted on MCCC’s campus. Grade levels range from K-12. Descriptions of each summer camp are below

- Agriculture Adventure Camp. $29; July 13-16; grades 5-8; 9-11:30 a.m. This hands-on experience takes campers on an agricultural journey through a farm, greenhouse and an animal encounter to learn about “subsistence," where food comes from. Registration deadline: July 12.
- Aspiring Artist Camp. $99; July 13-16 or July 20-23; grades 3-6; 9-noon; Students are encouraged to explore their creativity and imagination through a dynamic mixed-media experience, experimenting with drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpting. Registration deadlines are July 12 and July 19, respectively.
- Automotive Camp. $69; July 13-16 or July 27-30; grades 9-12;1-4 p.m. This camp will cover a range of topics, including shop safety, diagnostic procedures, changing fluids and filters, and engine and electrical systems and their operation. Registration deadlines are July 12 and July 26, respectively.
- Aviation Camp. $329; June 22-26; grades 9-12; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Taught by FAA-certified instructors from Monroe Aviation Flight School, students will learn about real-world aviation. Campers will explore the science of flight and apply pilot training to interactive workshops and scenario-based exercises, as well as experience MCCC’s Redbird MCX flight simulator. Students will spend a day at Custer Airport in Monroe, rotating between drone flight operations and a short introductory flight in a real aircraft. Registration deadline: June 21.
- Basketball Camps. $99; July 7-10, grades 2-5 from 9-noon; July 7-10, grades 6-9 from 1-4 p.m. Basketball camps are in two sections – one on fundamentals and one on offensive skills. The Basketball FUNdamentals Camp teaches defensive tactics and student confidence, while the Offensive Skills Camp helps serious athletes improve form, shooting and ball-handling abilities. Registration deadline: July 6.
- CAD/CAM and CNC Machining Camp. $69; June 22-26; grades 9-12; 9-noon. Campers will gain real-world manufacturing design experience through a guided designing and machining process that lets students create their own custom fidget spinner. There is potential for a local manufacturing visit on the last day. Registration deadline: June 21.
- Cooking Camps. $124 or $139; six classes total for various grades at varying dates and times. Introducing brand-new cooking concepts to all classes, these camps range from learning how to create recipes to cooking global cuisine under supervision and guidance. Grades range from 2-11. Registration varies.
- Firearm Safety Camp. $99; Aug. 10-14; grades 5-12; 9-noon. Campers will be introduced to responsible gun handling and gun safety from NRA-certified instructor Wayne Blank. A trip to the firing range will be held on the last day of camp for those who have attended all classes. Registration deadline: Aug. 9.
- Guitar Camps. $99; July 13-16, grades 7-12 from 9-noon; July 13-16, grades 7-12 from 1-4 p.m. This year, MCCC has two levels of guitar camp: beginner and intermediate. Guitar Level 1 introduces campers to strings, tuning, basic major and minor chords, and progressions. Guitar Level 2 teaches students new chords and to play fun, recognizable songs as a group. Registration deadline: July 12.
- Healthcare Mini Heroes Camp. $99; June 22-25; grades 6-9; 9-11:30 a.m. Campers will learn first aid and safety rescue skills through various activities, including the dissection of pig lungs and cow hearts, exploration of ambulance and firetruck rigs, participation in a nursing skills simulator and more. Registration deadline: June 21.
- Lego Design and Build Camp. $99; July 13-16, grades 4-6 from 9-11 a.m.; Aug. 10-13., grades 4-6 from 9-11 a.m. Summer Camp students will learn how to design, build and market their own mini Lego set. Registration deadline: July 12.
- Makerspace Innovation Camp. $69; June 29-July 2; grades 7-12 from 9-noon. Campers will design, invent and tinker with high-tech tools to bring their ideas to life. Some highlights include basic electronics and soldering, 3D printing, and CNC laser cutting and engraving. Registration deadline: June 28.
- Metrology Camp. $69; June 22-25; grades 7-12 from 1-4 p.m. This camp is for campers who are enthusiastic about measurements. Here, they learn how to use calipers, laser sensors and micrometers. Students will gain an understanding of the importance of accuracy and calibration through experiments and competition. Registration deadline June 21.
- Pickleball Camp. $99; July 20-24; grades 7-12 from 10-noon. Campers will learn pickleball fundamentals, including serving, rallying, scoring, positioning and teamwork in a high-energy, fun environment. Registration deadline: June 19.
- Photography Camp. $99; July 20-23, grades 5-12 from 9-noon; July 20-23, grades 5-12 from 1-4 p.m. New this year, MCCC has two levels of photography: beginner and intermediate. Photography Level 1 introduces campers to basics like ISO, exposure, composition and flash. Photography Level 2 teaches students how to improve quality and use Photoshop. Registration deadline: July 19.
- Robotics Camp. $79-155; five classes total for various grades with varying dates and times. These camps range from students learning the FUNdamentals of STEM to students developing a competition robot for the 2026-27 VEX IQ competition game. Grades range from K-12. Registration varies.
- Skilled Trades to Apprenticeships Camp. $39; June 22-26; grades 9-12 from 8-4 p.m. Led by union skilled trade workers, campers will explore exciting careers in the skilled trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, electrical work, general labor and ironwork. Registration deadline: June 21.
- Volleyball Camp. $99; June 22-25, grades 2-5 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; June 22-25, grades 6-8 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Campers will learn serving, underhand passing, attacking and more under the guidance of seasoned trainer, Gary Davis. Registration deadline: June 21.
- Welding Camp. $69; July 13-16, grades 9-12 from 9-noon; July 27-30, grades 9-12 from 9-noon. Campers will be introduced to welding technology, use welding equipment under supervision and create a custom welding art project to take home. Registration deadlines are July 12 and July 26, respectively.
- 3D Design and Printing Camp. $69; June 22-25; grades 7-12; 9-noon. Campers will learn SolidWorks, a parametric computer-aided design (CAD) software, and use a 3D printer to create 3D solid models. Registration deadline: June 21.
Each session must have a minimum number of participants for the camp to occur. MCCC reserves the right to change instructors.
