MCCC INTRODUCES NEW AVIATION SUMMER CAMP FOR GRADES 9-12

MCCC has introduced a new summer camp for grades 9-12 that's all about learning to fly.

This Aviation Summer Camp costs $329 and is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 22-26.

Students will have the opportunity to use MCCC’s Redbird MCX flight simulator on campus and visit the Custer Airport during the camp.

The program requires no prior aviation experience, as campers will learn the basics of aviation. Content includes learning how flights operate, studying factors that affect pilot administration, such as aeronautical decision-making, and gaining a practical understanding of how pilots maneuver in real-world situations. This camp will closely entwine real pilot training concepts with science, including weather data and flight fundamentals.

Materials will be strengthened through interactive exercises and workshops throughout the week. The MCCC’s Redbird MCX flight simulator will orient students with a replica Cessna 172 cockpit environment. The Custer Airport visit will be a hands-on experience, involving an opportunity for students to operate drones and go on a short introductory flight in an aircraft operated by Monroe Aviation.

A Federal Aviation Administration-certified instructor from Monroe Aviation Flight School will teach the program and provide further insight into flying and pilot training.

Registration is underway until June 21. Register with the MCCC Office of Lifelong Learning at www.monroeccc.edu/summer-camps or by calling (734) 384-4127.
