RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM SCHEDULES INFO SESSIONS, HOSPITAL TOURS FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

MONROE, Mich. – The Respiratory Therapy Program at Monroe County Community College has scheduled numerous opportunities -- including in-person and online information sessions, as well as hospital tours to see respiratory therapists on the job -- for prospective students to learn more about the growing RT field.

In-person information sessions will be held in the Gerald Welch Health Education Building on the college's Main Campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road, Monroe. Online information sessions will be held on Zoom. Available dates are February 10, March 7, April 9 and May 7. While free and open to the public, pre-registration is necessary by going to the Respiratory Therapy Program page at www.monroeccc.edu/rt to select the preferred date and time to attend. For the online sessions, a link will be sent to registrants the day before the session.

During the sessions, participants will learn about respiratory therapy careers, including job duties, the employment outlook and classes needed to enter the program. Respiratory Therapy Program faculty will be available to answer questions. Prospective students can also earn a point toward admission into the program by attending. The respiratory therapy program follows a selective admission process. The deadline for applying for the RT program at MCCC for the Fall 2026 semester is June 25, 2026. More information about the application process can be found at www.monroeccc.edu/rt.

For prospective students who would like to see respiratory therapists in action, the RT Program has arranged for numerous hospital tours to be held at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Available dates are March 18 and May 21. Registration is required by going to the Respiratory Therapy Program page at www.monroeccc.edu/rt to select the preferred date and time to attend. Attendance at a hospital tour also counts toward a point on the RT Program Application.

“The MCCC RT program is recognized as one of the best in the state of Michigan and the United States," said Helen Stripling, respiratory therapy program director. "We are a recipient of the Distinguished Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. We currently have articulation agreements with University of Michigan-Flint, Eastern Michigan University and University of Toledo that make transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree quite easy. And we plan to secure even more articulation agreements in the near future."
