The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarships to Jaden Aitken, Allison Braithwaite, Avery Collett, Jaclyn Diaz and Kara Sparks. Each $1,390 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Aitken, of Monroe, is a 2019 graduate of Bedford High School. She is taking science classes while attending MCCC. Aitken is the spouse of Trenten Frey and mother of Luella.
Braithwaite, of Blissfield, is a 2025 graduate of State Line Christian School. She is studying graphic design: digital media at MCCC. Braithwaite is the daughter of Christine and Dan.
Collett, of Monroe, is a 2024 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree while attending MCCC. She volunteers at the Monroe Family YMCA as an 8U softball coach. Collett is the daughter of Michelle and Thomas Collett.
Diaz, of Monroe, is a 2004 graduate of Annapolis High School, Dearborn Heights, MI. She is taking her undergraduate courses at MCCC, then transferring to Eastern Michigan University to enroll in their social work program. She volunteers at her son’s school, Monroe Custer Elementary. Diaz is the mother of Charlie.
Sparks, of Erie, is a 2025 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying to become a paramedic while attending MCCC and is the vice president of the Turning Point USA Club. She is also involved in the Women’s Republican Club in Monroe, participated in the Walk for Life in Monroe and volunteers at a summer camp for kids with medical needs. Sparks is the daughter of Kristyn and Stephen Sparks.
To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
