The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Michael E. Newman Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Ava Sperr. The $1,050 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Sperr, of La Salle, is a 2025 graduate of Oscar A. Carlson High School. She is completing her general studies to join MCCC’s respiratory therapy program. She is a nursery volunteer at Heritage Baptist Church. Sperr is the daughter of Victoria Root and Shaun Sperr.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a member of the Monroe County Community Credit Union, have and maintain a 2.8 grade point average or higher during the scholarship year, and maintain at least part-time enrollment, defined as six contact hours or more per semester. Financial need is also considered.
