The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Irv Locketz and Lynne Goodman Nuclear Engineering Technology (NUET) Scholarship to Wyatt Behrendt, Christian Coakley and Christian Martinez. Each $1,650 scholarship is to be used for tuition and fees.
Behrendt, of Belleville, is a 2024 graduate of Lincoln Senior High School, Ypsilanti, MI. He is studying nuclear engineering technology at MCCC. Behrendt works in his community with the Sumpter Township Department of Public Works and 4-H. He is the son of David and Jaclynn Behrendt.
Coakley, of Temperance, is a 2024 graduate of Bedford High School. He is studying nuclear engineering technology at MCCC. He is the son of Bridget and Timothy Coakley.
Martinez, of Flat Rock, is a 2025 graduate of Flat Rock High School. He is studying nuclear engineering technology at MCCC. While attending FRHS, he participated in the Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society and was a member of the varsity bowling team. Martinez is the son of Alberto Martinez and Capri Martinez.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a MCCC student in the Nuclear Engineering Technology program, and must maintain at least part-time enrollment at Monroe County Community College during their scholarship year. Part-time enrollment is defined as at least six contact hours per semester.
