The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the JoAnn Naida LPN to RN Nursing Scholarship to Edith Espiller Lara and Denver Jackson. Each $2,000 Winter 2026 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Espiller Lara, of La Salle, is a 2010 graduate of Orchard Center High School. She is currently in the LPN to RN program at MCCC. She is involved with Monroe Puente, a non-profit organization. Edith is the spouse to Juan Andrade and mother to Juan, Karina and Karla.
Jackson, of Dundee, is a 2017 graduate of Milan High School. He is studying nursing while attending MCCC. He is a member of the Student Nurses Association, volunteers with his church and coaches softball.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a second-year nursing student enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program, a Monroe County, MI, resident and have a 3.3 grade point average or higher.
