The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Patricia A. Vajcner Memorial Scholarship to Mackenzie Carroll and Aric Parker. Each $1,350 Winter 2026 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Carroll, of Newport, is a 2025 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Wyandotte, MI. She is studying construction management technology at MCCC. She is a member of the Belleville RC Racing Club and Dearborn Mustang Club. Mackenzie is the daughter of Melanie and Mathew Hartz.
Parker, of Luna Pier, is a 2001 graduate of Mason Consolidated High School. He is studying nuclear engineering technology while at MCCC. He currently works at MCCC and has taken on the role as secretary/treasurer in the union. Aric is the spouse to Melissa and father to Emma, Lisa and Alayna.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing a degree or certificate that will prepare them to enter the skilled trades with strong preference given to a student who is in the product and process technology program and maintains at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Financial need may be considered in awarding this scholarship.
