The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Pfc. Dennis J. Miller Jr. Memorial Scholarship to Alexzander Petit. The $1,650 Winter 2025 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Petit, of Newport, is a 2022 graduate of Airport High School. He is studying history while attending MCCC. He is a member of the Student Government Association and serves on the SGA events committee. He is the son of Mary Petit.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be majoring in history and/or planning to teach history and co-op/intern at any organization or institution in Monroe County that provides history education or historic preservation. Additionally, a student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average and a three-quarter time enrollment status of nine credit hours or more.
