The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarships to Fabryanna Dorsey, Sasha Donley, Megan Kelly, Latina Lucas-Martin and Danielle Raasch. Each $1,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Dorsey, of Redford, obtained her GED in 1995 from Ruth Ruff Adult Education, Detroit, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is a member of the Student Nurses’ Association. She is the mother of Breyanna.
Donley, of Van Buren Township, is a 2014 graduate of Harry S. Truman High School, Taylor, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC. Donley is in the Student Nurses’ Association and holds a CPR certification. She is the daughter of Allen and Tammy Faulkner, and she is the spouse of Shawn Donley.
Kelly, of Gibraltar, is a 2010 graduate of Oscar A. Carlson High School, Gibraltar, MI. She is studying nursing at MCCC and is the vice president of the Student Nurses’ Association. Kelly is the daughter of Brigitte Evanoff and Harry Kelly, the significant other of Kevin Underwood and the mother of Dominic.
Raasch, of Ida, is a 2004 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing nursing at MCCC and is an active member of the Student Nurses’ Association. She is the mother of Evalee.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the registered nursing program at MCCC. Preference is given to students who are veterans or those who have immediate family members who are veterans.
