The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Susan L. Lingar “A.G.” Memorial Scholarship to Lynette Thomas. The $1,550 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and fees.
Thomas, of Monroe, is a 1996 graduate of Southwestern High School, Detroit, MI. She is taking general education courses at MCCC with the intention to transfer to the University of Michigan. Lynette volunteers as a parent peer mentor at a family center. Thomas is the mother of Nathaniel and Marina.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing an accounting degree, be a graduate of a Monroe County, MI, high school or have completed a GED, be a Monroe County resident, and be a U.S. citizen. Additionally, students must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher and maintain part-time enrollment of at least 6 credit hours.
