MCCC FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ENHANCEMENT GRANTS FOR 2020-21 ELEVEN INITIATIVES RECEIVE FUNDING

Eleven initiatives at Monroe County Community College recently received grant award notification during a virtual awards ceremony hosted by The Foundation at MCCC. The Enhancement Grants Program was created to assist MCCC faculty, staff, and students by providing funding for the development and implementation of innovative projects that support the MCCC Mission. The grants program puts an emphasis on spurring creative and innovative ideas, which have a visible and substantive impact on campus and/or in the community. Read Press Release

MCCC OFFERS 12-WEEK STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

MCCC TO OFFER VIRTUAL TRAINING SESSION ON IMPLICIT BIAS AND REDUCING RACIAL DISPARITIES

Monroe County Community College will offer a training session titled “Implicit Bias: Reducing Racial Disparities Through Understanding” virtually via Microsoft Teams on Aug. 26 from 9-11 a.m. Participants will learn how to define and understand implicit and explicit bias and overcome these biases to help create a more diverse world at work and at home. MCCC AND SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN CONSTRUCTION ACADEMY TO OFFER ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP CLASS THIS FALL

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College and the Southeast Michigan Construction Academy will offer an Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1 class this Fall Semester. Students must begin in the Fall Semester and the apprenticeship course continues through the Winter Semester. The course starts Aug. 27. Classes will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at MCCC. Read Press Release

MCCC PARTNERS WITH THE DTE FOUNDATION TO HELP STUDENTS IN NEED TO THRIVE DURING AND BEYOND COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The Foundation at Monroe County Community College (MCCC) today announced it received a $1,500 grant from the DTE Foundation to bolster MCC’s Emergency Relief Fund, which helps students – including those financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic – continue to work toward achieving their educational and career aspirations. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. MCCC STUDENTS WIN JOURNALISTIC RECOGNITION AT STATE LEVEL

Once again, Monroe County Community College’s student newspaper, Agora, has been recognized as one of the state’s best collegiate publications.Agora, under the guidance of MCCC faculty member Matthew Bird-Meyer, and the newspaper’s editorial and reporting staff won nine awards in the annual Michigan Community College Press Association’s annual competition, including third place General Excellence in the Division 2 category. COVID-19 UPDATE: SUSPENSION OF REGISTRATION FOR ON-GROUND CLASSES EXTENDED; STUDENTS CAN STILL REGISTER FOR ONLINE AND BLENDED CLASSES

MONROE, Mich. – Due to continuing concerns about COVID-19, Monroe County Community College has extended its suspension of registration for fully on-ground Fall Semester classes into early next week; however, students can still register for online and blended classes – classes that are primarily online with limited on-ground attendance. COVID-19 Update: SUMMER PORTION OF PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM POSTPONED UNTIL FALL, NO NEW COHORT FOR WINTER

MONROE, Mich. – Due to limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Monroe County Community College has postponed the Summer Semester portion of its Practical Nursing certificate program curriculum until the Fall 2020 Semester and will not admit a new cohort of students into the program for Winter Semester 2021.
