Experience using the cutting edge technology housed in the Career Technology Center to prepare students for careers in scientific and engineering technology fields like construction, manufacturing, automotive, electronics, nuclear energy, welding, renewable energy and more!
Highly interactive demonstrations will be offered areas such as the following. Attendee participation is strongly encouraged!

Apprenticeship Wall Display Unveiling at 4:30 p.m.: Come a bit early to help us celebrate as we unveil MCCC’s new Apprenticeship Wall Display representing our ongoing partnership with AFL-CIO affiliated trades.
Here are some of the interactive activities that are scheduled for attendees:
- In the Welding Lab, experience hands-on welding techniques by operating various equipment, including CNC laser and robot. Observe a live demo performed by students in the program and interact with prospective employers. Inquire about careers in this exciting field and apprenticeship pathways.
- In the Electrical Engineering Technology Lab, operate and explore equipment and various "trainers" in the lab, interact with pre-built circuits, watch a Tesla coil demonstration. Meet with current students in various pathways to jobs and/or apprenticeship opportunities.
- In the Automation and Robotics Lab, operate collaborative robots, look at safety features such as light curtain, build a start and stop circuit for a conveyor. You will get opportunity to talk to current students on career pathways in this high demand and high wage field and pathways to apprenticeship.
- In the Construction Management Lab, learn about the construction industry and trades, read blueprints and assemble scaled models. Experience immersive technology in the construction industry through HoloLens. Interact with current students and industry reps to discuss this lucrative career pathway, apprenticeships and a 3+1 transfer path to Eastern Michigan University to complete a bachelor's degree.
- In the Mechanical Lab, create a nameplate from scratch using SolidWorks and be guided through some simple basics of 3D modeling.
- In the Makerspace, observe a custom keychain being 3D printed. Each attendee will receive a sample keychain as they enter the lab, giving them a tangible example of the technology and its capabilities. Explore the laser cutter and use it to customize the nameplate created in the Mechanical Lab by adding initials and attaching to a wooden border. That completed project can then be taken home.
