Register For Summer Starting March 23
Students who register for summer not only graduate sooner, but they are also more likely to graduate. Summer Semester is a great option for current, new, and “guest” students. Registration begins on March 23, and classes begin on May 18. There are plenty of online choices, and sessions are short – most are 8 weeks.
Summer classes offer many advantages. They are short and concise and offer more one-on-one time with the instructor, allow students to catch up from previous reduced course loads, and bring students closer to graduation.

How to Prepare for Summer and Fall Registration
Summer Registration begins on March 23 and Fall 2026 registration begins on April 6, which means you should schedule an appointment with your academic advisor now (Dual enrollment students should meet with their high school counselor). Your faculty advisor’s phone number and e-mail address are in the Husky Portal under “My Personal Profile.” You should take an active role in the advising process. Prepare a list of questions you want to ask. In preparation for registration, you should go to your Self-Service account and plan your classes in Student Planning to the best of your ability. Here are directions to do that:
1. Log in to the Husky Portal with your username and password.
2. Select Self-Service.
3. Select "Student Planning."
4. On the "Student Planning" page, select "Plan Your Degree and Register for Classes."
5. Use the arrows to select the appropriate term for which you are registering.
Dr. Scott Behrens, vice president of enrollment management and student success, would like to hear from you, including any concerns or suggestions you may have, so please feel free to him at sbehrens@monroeccc.edu.

Join Student Government
Have you ever considered joining the Student Government Association? SGA is more than just meetings and titles; it’s a group of motivated students working together to make campus life more engaging, positive and student-driven. SGA strives not only to represent student voices but also to collaborate with faculty and administrators to turn student ideas into something impactful. SGA is here on campus to ensure students have a say in their college experience, participate in events and advocate for positive change.
Over the past few years, SGA has brought campus to life through Halloween events, Easter activities, Poetry Night and blood drive volunteering. It also hosted a tabling event at the beginning of the year to educate students about voting and recruit members for the club. SGA is driven to create opportunities that benefit students and the campus community.
SGA's focus currently is on increasing student participation while building a connected and active campus through events and collaborations. SGA works through committees such as the Events Committee, Social Outreach, Student Success and more. These committees give members a way to contribute in ways that match their interests. Whether you are interested in planning events, representing student voices or just getting more involved on MCCC’s campus, all students are encouraged to join SGA.
If you are interested in joining, simply show up to the next meeting.
Student Government meets on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Room 165 of the Warrick Student Center.

About the Book: Stéphane Breitwieser grew up fascinated by art. As an adult he becomes the most prolific art thief in history, stealing over 2 billion dollars’ worth of art. All of his crimes are committed while museums are open, and he is never violent. He doesn’t sell any of the art, but instead hoards it in his attic room. He and his accomplice, girlfriend Anne-Catherine, become more audacious with each theft, until they are finally caught and their treasure trove of art is discovered. But the crimes don’t end there.

Work Where You Learn
MCCC students are hired for many positions at the college, including many that provide experience applicable to specific fields of study. These jobs are part-time with a maximum of 20 hours per week. It is the commitment of the college that the candidate is a student first and an employee second; therefore, a student’s class schedule is reviewed and work hours are scheduled accordingly. To be eligible, students must be enrolled for at least six credit hours during the Fall and Winter semesters of employment. To review and apply for student assistant positions, a candidate must register with the Office of Workforce Development at collegecentral.com/monroeccc; fill out the Student Assistant application (https://www.monroeccc.edu/sites/default/files/academics/StudentAssistant-JobApp.pdf) and e-mail it to workforce@monroeccc.edu or drop it off at the Office of Workforce Development in Room Z-286.

The Office of the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success has sole discretion regarding editing and what is published in MCCC Happenings. The Office of Marketing Communications designs the online newsletter and copy edits submissions for accuracy and clarity.
