The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has opened up its scholarship application for the Winter 2027 semester.
The Foundation has more than $60,000 in scholarships available. The application deadline is November 15, and the application form is accessible now at www.monroeccc.edu/scholarships.
The scholarship award amounts range from $500 to $2,450. The majority of scholarships can be used for a variety of expenses beyond tuition, including fees, books, lab and other supplies and equipment, and, in some cases, essential living expenses that make college attendance possible. Applicant eligibility varies based on scholarship; these funds are not all based on need or grade-point-average-oriented. Not all require full-time status.
“The application is free online at www.monroeccc.edu/scholarships. Just click the “Apply” tab to get started. All a student will need to start an application is their MCCC student email address and seven-digit student identification number, which they will be given after completing the free MCCC Application for Admission at www.monroeccc.edu, said Dr. Joshua W. Myers, executive director of The Foundation at MCCC.
Students can complete an application in as little as 20 minutes, but students are encouraged to take their time to ensure a complete, compelling and accurate submission.
The college also offers some suggestions for students preparing to apply for scholarships.
- Write responses to the short essay questions in Microsoft Word before filling out the application form so clean, edited versions of the essay can be "cut and pasted" into the digital application.
- Answer the three short essay questions, one that is required and two others that are highly recommended for completion:
- Short essay highlighting educational and career goals.
- Short essay listing and describing school and community service activities.
- Short essay describing any financial hardships, events or circumstances that have been overcome or are currently being faced.
- Thoroughly completing the application before submitting it. Each question may qualify the student for additional scholarships. Note that the application platform does allow for saving drafts before final submission.
“The generosity and passion our donors have for education is what makes these scholarships possible. These benevolent individuals fulfill The Foundation’s mission: enhancing the educational and cultural experience of our students and community. This funding allows us to fund a diverse selection of scholarships, ranging over 70 areas of study, supporting all students,” said Myers.
