Open Registration is Here!

Scott BehrensHi, I am Dr. Scott Behrens ("Dr. B."), the vice president of enrollment management and student success, and I wanted to remind you that Open Registration is in full swing.

Winter Semester Classes Begins January 12, so if you need to add or change classes, there is still time, but act soon because rosters are filling up fast.

Schedule to meet with your academic advisor (Dual students should meet with their high school counselor.). Your faculty advisor’s phone number and e-mail address can be found on MyWebPAL under “My Personal Profile.” You should take an active role in the advising process. Prepare a list of questions you want to ask. In preparation for registration, you should go to your MyWebPal account and plan your classes to the best of your ability. Here are instructions on how to do that:

1. Login to MyWebPAL with your username and password.

2. Under "Registration" select "Student Planning."

3. On the "Student Planning" page select "Plan Your Degree and Register for Classes."

4. Use the arrows to select the appropriate term for which you are registering.

Exciting Opportunities for Student Involvement

  • MCCC Student Government is undertaking a major project to review and revise its constitution and would like your participation.  For further information about participating, contact Mario Tucker at mtucker3@my.monroeccc.edu.
  • The Student Library Advisory Club is seeking new members to help plan book clubs, library events and displays. Leave one book you read and enjoyed on the SLAC cart in the library and take a new book. Please email Elizabeth Hartig ehartig@monroeccc.edu to join SLAC. The club is also inviting students to join club members in making custom buttons on November 15 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Library.

Finals are Right Around the Corner -- the SSC Can Help You Prepare

MCCC offers free in-person or virtual tutoring for all registered students. The sessions can be with a faculty specialist, fellow student peer-tutor or a group. The college also offers supplemental instruction through informal, peer-assisted study sessions. These services are provided in Founders Hall in the Student Success Center. Make an appointment by visiting monroeccc.edu/tutoring.

Writing and presentation assistance is also available in the Writing Center in the Campbell Academic Center. It is provided by Writing Fellows.

The virtual Blueprint for College Success Workshop is available 24/7 and includes topics such as:

  • Study skills
  • Goal setting
  • Time management
  • Effective note taking
  • Test anxiety and test taking
  • Becoming an independent learner

There are also many resources available for students with special needs through the Disability Services Office.

Tutoring Center Hiring for Winter 2024

Working as a student tutor is a great on-campus job that allows you to keep up on your academics and help other students. It is also wonderful addition to your resume! Mental Health Services

MCCC offers mental health services on campus in partnership with Monroe Community Mental Health Authority. The services include:

Mental health screening:

  • Referrals
  • Crisis prevention and intervention
  • Advocacy

Linking and coordinating to the following resources:

  • Counseling / Therapy
  • Health services
  • Financial Assistance
  • Housing
  • Social Services
  • Other services and natural supports

Amber Kreichbaum is the coordinator of the services for MCMHA on MCCC's campus. Her goal is to remove the stigma attached to the word mental illness and encourage students to feel comfortable seeking treatment. Her office is in Founders Hall and can be reached via email at akreichbaum@monroeccc.edu or by calling 734.457.6014. She looks forward to working with anyone in need and wants all students to know that her door is always open.


red lineComplete Your Financial Aid Application

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid allows students to have an opportunity to access to grants, scholarships, work-study and low-interest student loans to help achieve their educational goals. 

Please visit FAFSA.gov to complete the application. Students and parents are encouraged to use the data link with the IRS to complete the application. The Monroe County Community College school code is 002294.

If students need help completing the FAFSA application, they can stop by the Financial Aid Office in the Room 101 of the Warrick Student Center. For more information, email fastudent@monroeccc.edu.

Did you know that there are many jobs available for students right on campus? The Office of Workforce Development has numerous open student assistant positions that need to be filled right away. Please go to MCCC's College Central Network webpage to apply.

The "MCCC Happenings" newsletter is produced by the Enrollment Management and Student Success Team to update students on events, things that are new to the college, MCCC policy changes and more. The full publication is sent to all students once a month during the academic year. An "Upcoming Events" section is included at the beginning of every "MCCC Happenings" newsletter. This section links to upcoming events that appear in the online calendar of MCCC's website.
